[Saito Hitori] If you do things that bring joy to others, you will undoubtedly succeed.

Becoming someone who is appreciated by people is equivalent to being appreciated by God.

As I mentioned before, there’s a story about people being cherished by God, and this is the second part of the series on being cherished by God. From this, you will understand how you can be cherished.

In life, there are those who fail and those who succeed. Those who have the support of the heavens and society will definitely succeed. However, if you turn the heavens and society against you and fight alone, you won’t likely win. What I mean to say is that becoming someone who is appreciated by others is being cherished by God.

For example, let’s consider different professions like being a carpenter or a photographer. The biggest mistake people make is trying to express their own individuality. Saying things like, “I’m a photographer, so I want to take photos like this” or “I want to take photos like this.” You see?

If you want to take certain photos, just do it in your spare time. But when a client asks you to create something, make something that will make them happy. However, some people can’t accept that, they insist on satisfying themselves and focus on what they personally want because they value their own happiness over making others happy.

Moreover, what you’re doing is trying to satisfy yourself with the money given by others. That’s absurd. The client asks you to make something, right? So, make something that will make the client happy. Then you say, “The client is happy, but I’m not satisfied.” That’s because you’re too focused on satisfying yourself with your own preferences.

So, create things that make others happy. And if someone asks, “Are you a professional if you make them happy?” No, it’s just too ordinary, because you’re getting paid, aren’t you?

Let’s take the example of a carpenter. The client says, “I want this kind of house.” Then you say, “I understand, you want this kind of house. In that case, you’ll have some extra space in the attic, so if we add stairs here, you can go up.” The client replies, “Oh! Can you do something so nice?” Then you say, “Try installing storage on this part of the wall.”

So, listen to the client’s wishes and do more than they expect. That way, not only will they be happy, but they’ll be even happier. This is the best way to live as a professional. So, becoming a person who is appreciated is about becoming someone who is cherished by their co-workers in a factory, appreciated by their boss, or whose creations are cherished by society.

When it comes to being cherished by God, some people wonder, “If God exists, why doesn’t He make me happier?” You know what? Just by smiling, you make people around you happy. If you always have a smile on your face and make others happy, then God has already given the muscles to make smile.

Alternatively, when you offer to help someone carry their baggage, you’re given hands to do so. So, if you want to become an appreciated person, do it in your current position, whatever your job may be. You also have a mouth to say things that make others happy. You just have to use it; everything has already been given to you.

So, don’t think about yourself, but consider what you can do for others. There are various success principles out there. Among them, “Express your individuality,” “What do you want to do?” or “What do you want?” won’t lead to success. Such approaches will only turn everyone against you, and you’ll suffer.

All the abilities to be appreciated are already given to you.

So, what can you do for others? What kind of help can you offer in your work? How can you make others happy? Don’t cling to yourself. If there’s something you really want to do, do it in your free time. This is my hobby, but it’s interesting, you know? Even with hobbies, if you are always thinking about how you can be a helpful person and how you can make others happy, your hobbies can become something that makes people happy.

If someone who engages in activities that bother others as a hobby is someone who is disliked, it’s likely they’ll be disliked in their job as well. I know it may sound strange, but there are people who say, “I steal because my job is stressful.” Then, are you saying that your job is so stressful? That’s why you’re stealing? Such people are causing trouble for others, both in their personal life and their work.

People who say they’re stressed out and struggling with life are either turning society against them or making enemies of the heavens. So, stop doing that and think about what you can do to make others happy. Can you succeed just by doing that? Yes, you can. Then the heavens will be on your side too. All the means to be appreciated have already been given to you.

You already have everything you need. So, use it to be of help. That’s all.
